Connecting an outside account to Escape — your Facebook Page, your Google Business Profile, an ad account — is done by the Escape team, not from inside your account.

Why we do it rather than you

The connection screen sits in the same part of the system as your payment settings and the rest of your account's plumbing. Opening it up would mean one wrong click could disconnect the card processing that pays you, and it would fail silently — invoices would simply stop taking payment.

So it stays with us. It also means these connections get made once, correctly, by someone who does it every week — and if one ever drops, we can see it and fix it.

The one exception is connecting Stripe to QuickBooks — that happens entirely inside your own Stripe account and never touches Escape. You do that one yourself, and there is a full walkthrough for it.

What we need from you

Every connection works the same way: you need to be an owner or admin of the thing being connected, and someone with that access has to be available for a few minutes.

We cannot grant ourselves access to your Facebook Page or your Google listing — those permissions live with the platform, not with us. That is the piece that holds these up, almost every time.

Before you ask, check three things:

  1. You know which account it is. The right Facebook Page, the right Google listing, the right ad account — businesses often have more than one, and some were made years ago by someone who has left.
  2. You have admin or owner access to it — not "editor", not "analyst". If a marketing company set it up for you, you may not actually own it. Worth finding out now rather than mid-setup.
  3. You can sign in. Two-factor codes go to somebody's phone. Make sure it is a phone in the room.

How to ask

Contact support and tell us:

  • What you want connected — the platform, and which account or page if you have more than one
  • Who has admin access to it — name and whether they are reachable
  • What you want it to do — messages landing in your inbox, leads coming through, reviews, or reporting

We will come back with a time, do it live with your access holder on the call, and test it before we leave.

What happens after

  • We test it with a real message or a real lead — never just a green checkmark on a settings screen.
  • You get told what to expect — where the messages land, what the customer receives, and what runs automatically.
  • If a connection ever drops, the owner and office get an email about it. Platforms expire these links periodically; it is normal and it is a five-minute fix.

Changing or removing one

Same route — ask support. Disconnecting is quick, but tell us why, because some connections have automatic messages depending on them. Pulling a connection without turning off what depends on it is how customers stop receiving things nobody realized were linked.
