Connecting your Facebook Page does two useful things, and you can have either or both.
What it does for you
Messages land in your inbox. Someone messages your Page asking whether you service heat pumps, and it appears in the same inbox as your texts and calls — answered by the same person, in the same place, with the reply going back to Facebook. No more checking the Page on somebody's phone.
Lead forms come straight in. If you run Facebook lead ads, the people who fill them out arrive in Escape as real customer records within moments — and your follow-up starts immediately rather than whenever someone next exports a spreadsheet.
Speed is the entire point of the lead-form connection. A lead contacted in five minutes is a different business outcome from one contacted the next morning. If you are paying for those leads, this is where the money is.
What you need on your side
- Admin access to the Facebook Page — the role is called Facebook Access with full control in current Meta settings. Editor is not enough.
- To know which Page. Shops often have an old Page a previous marketer made, plus the one they actually use. Connecting the wrong one means messages arrive from a Page nobody watches.
- For lead ads: the Page needs to be attached to a Meta Business account, and you need admin on that too.
🔴 If an outside marketing company built your Page, check who owns it before you ask. This is the single most common hold-up. Agencies frequently hold ownership and the business owner is only an editor — you may need them to hand it over first, and that can take days.
Getting it connected
Ask support. Have the Page admin available — Meta will ask them to sign in and approve, and the approval screen lists which Pages are being shared. Choose carefully if several appear.
Good to know
- Instagram comes with it. Facebook and Instagram are connected together as one — if your Instagram is linked to the Page, its messages land in the same inbox automatically. There is nothing extra to ask for and nothing separate to set up.
- Replies come from the Page, not from a person. Customers see your business name, which is what you want.
- Facebook expires this connection periodically — usually every couple of months, and always if the admin changes their password. You'll get an email; reconnecting takes minutes.
- Old messages do not import. The connection starts from the day it is made. Anything already sitting unread in your Page inbox stays there.
