Your Google Business Profile — the listing that shows up on Maps and in local search — is where most home-service customers find you. Connecting it is one of the higher-value things on this page.
What it does for you
Google messages land in your inbox. Someone taps Message on your listing and it arrives with your texts and calls, in one inbox. These are high-intent people — they are looking at your listing right now — and Google measures how fast you reply.
Review requests can go out and replies can come back. This is what powers the automatic review request after every completed service call, and it lets replies to reviews be handled from inside Escape rather than logging into Google.
Your star rating is your storefront. It decides whether the next homeowner searching AC repair near me calls you or the shop down the road. This connection is what keeps it growing on its own.
What you need on your side
- Owner or Manager access to the Google Business Profile. Site Manager is not enough for messaging.
- A verified listing. If Google has not verified your business — the postcard, phone, or video process — there is nothing to connect yet. Verification can take days, so start it early.
- The Google account that holds it. This is often a personal Gmail belonging to whoever set it up, sometimes years ago.
🔴 Check who owns the listing before you ask. Old marketing companies, a former office manager, or a well-meaning family member frequently hold ownership. Google's ownership-transfer process is slow, and it is much easier to start it now than to discover it mid-setup.
Getting it connected
Ask support with the profile owner available to sign in. If you have multiple locations, tell us which one — or which ones.
Good to know
- Messaging has to be switched on in Google as well. If it is off on your listing, no messages can reach anyone, connected or not.
- Google watches your response time and shows it publicly. Getting these into the inbox your office already works is the whole reason this matters.
- Reviews are never filtered. Every customer who completes a service call gets the same ask, going straight to your review page — because Google prohibits doing it any other way.
- Photos, hours, and your description stay in Google. This connection is about messages and reviews; keeping the listing itself up to date is still done in Google, and is worth doing.
