If you keep appointments anywhere other than Escape, this is the connection that stops a customer booking you while you are already somewhere else.

The problem it solves

Escape offers customers your open time slots. If it cannot see your dentist appointment, your kid's game, or the install you scheduled by phone, it will happily book over all three. The customer gets a confirmation, the reminder goes out, and nobody finds out until the morning of.

Connecting your calendar closes that hole in both directions:

  • Anything on your Google Calendar makes you unavailable in Escape — the slot simply stops being offered.
  • Anything booked in Escape appears on your Google Calendar — so the calendar on your phone is the whole picture.

Who connects it

This is per person, not per company. Each team member who takes appointments has their own calendar connected, because the whole point is their availability.

We make the connection — like every other one on this page, it is not something you set up from inside your own account. Ask support and tell us who needs it, and we will do them together on one call rather than chasing people individually.

Do the whole team at once if you can. A calendar connection that covers three of your four techs is worse than none at all — the office stops double-checking availability because "the calendar handles it", and the fourth person is the one who gets double-booked.

What you need on your side

  • The Google account holding the calendar you actually use. People often have two, and the busy one is not always the one they think of first.
  • To know which calendars matter. Most Google accounts have several — work, personal, a shared family one, holidays. You choose which ones block your time.

Set it up thoughtfully

Two settings decide whether this helps or annoys:

  1. Which calendar receives Escape's bookings. Usually your main work calendar. Sending them to a calendar nobody looks at defeats the purpose.
  2. Which calendars block your availability. Be broad here. If it takes you out of the field, it should block — personal appointments included. You do not have to share what the appointment is, only that the time is gone.

Good to know

  • Sync is quick but not instant. Book something on Google and give it a minute before expecting Escape to know. Blocking out the next thirty minutes on your phone while a customer is mid-booking is cutting it fine.
  • All-day events can wipe a whole day. An all-day "Trade show" entry may block every slot. If you only lose the morning, use a timed event.
  • Declined and tentative invitations may still block time depending on your settings — worth checking if slots disappear for no obvious reason.
  • If the connection drops, you get an email — the owner and office both do. Act on that one the day it arrives, because until it is fixed you are quietly bookable during time you are not free.
  • Google Calendar only. Outlook, iCloud and other calendars cannot be connected. If your team is on one of those, the practical workaround is a Google Calendar that mirrors it — but be honest about whether anyone will keep two calendars in step, because a stale mirror is worse than no connection at all.
